The Water Institute (WI) of South Sudan completed the second training for Low-Cost Technologies for Rural Water Supply. Nine males and one female participated in the training.
Training Objectives
Build the capacity of WI staff
Provide private sector trainees with the ability to start businesses in low-cost technologies using Simple Marketable, Affordable, and Repairable technologies (SMART).
Gain an understanding of the history of the manual drilling Mzuzu, which started in Malawi and combines augers, stone punch, and a tube bailer developed by the SMART center group.

Practicals: participants drilled and installed two wells using the Mzuzu drilling method.
As part of the practical, participants are required to drill another eight wells for individual households.
