The Impact: Well Rehabilitation

What is a well rehabilitation?

Broken wells pose a significant challenge, often forcing communities to return to accessing unsafe water sources. In response to the need to improve the sustainability of water sources, we launched our well rehabilitation program in 2017. Our dedicated rehabilitation team works tirelessly to upgrade degraded wells, including those drilled by other organizations, to meet our rigorous standards.

Supporting the rehabilitation of wells is crucial for our water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) initiatives, ensuring uninterrupted access to clean water for communities in need.

How do well rehabilitations impact communities?

Our well rehabilitation programs bring older wells to a higher design standard with repairs to broken parts, upgrades to cement well platforms, and new animal watering troughs. We enhance the infrastructure of older wells, implementing re-drilling and pipe replacement when necessary and reinforcing concrete structures. Furthermore, we incorporate innovative features like animal watering troughs and locally sourced fencing to prevent contamination.

Additionally, our rehabilitation team is always ready to respond to repair requests for wells drilled by other organizations. They visit broken wells and employ necessary measures to return them to full functionality. Rehabilitating these wells provides sustainable and reliable water sources for years to come.

Together, we are uniting to water the seeds of change in South Sudan. Thank you for supporting this invaluable work.
